A policeman was martyred and a passerby was injured in an explosion near Karkhano Market in Peshawar.

 Police said in an initial statement that unidentified men hurled a grenade at a police mobile and fled during an operation against corona virus SOPs.

 However, CCPO Peshawar Abbas Ahsan, who visited the site to assess the damage, explained that the police mobile was on a routine patrol when it was targeted.

 According to the CCPO, the slain policeman was identified as Ibn Amin, the police team in-charge.

 On the other hand, the spokesman of Hayatabad Medical Complex said that the injured citizen was discharged after medical aid.

 He said that the body of the martyred policeman was also brought to the medical complex.
