ISLAMABAD: NCOC chief Asad Umar has opposed a complete lockdown in Karachi and said that closing down the city is not a cure for corona.
According to details, Asad Umar, head of National Command and Operations Center, while addressing a press conference on the situation of Corona in the country, said that the Sindh government is making every effort to stop the spread of Corona. Corona is still not taken seriously, as the epidemic subsides, people think it's over.
Opposing the complete lockdown in Karachi, Asad Umar said that closing down entire cities is not the cure for the epidemic. If SOPs are implemented properly, success can be achieved. SOPs implementation rate in Islamabad is 56.4% and Gilgit The implementation rate of SOPs in Baltistan is 37%.
The head of NCOC said that he would extend all possible cooperation to the Sindh government for the implementation of SOPs. The Sindh government would provide all facilities including correspondents and army.
He said that the process of vaccination is going on in every part of Pakistan. A total of more than 850,000 vaccination records have been set. I would also like to congratulate the staff for vaccination.
Asad Umar said that the highest number of 50 lakh vaccinations was given in Punjab yesterday, Sindh recorded a total of 169 thousand vaccinations which is a record, all the provinces have recorded in the process of vaccination but our target is 1 million vaccinations daily.
The federal minister said that the things that pose a threat are now going to be banned, at least one vaccinated person will be able to travel in a plane from August 1, if there is no vaccine, teachers will not be able to teach from August 1.
He further said that August 31 is the last date for vaccination of school bus, van drivers, conductors, public sector employees, families, those working in hotels and restaurants. Those who have not been vaccinated will not be able to work after the stipulated date.
Asad Omar said that August 31 is also the last date for employees of trains, public transport and government offices. Those who do not get vaccinated will be banned from working in shops and markets after August 31.
The NCOC chief said that vaccination has been made mandatory for students above 18 years of age till August 31. After August 31, all these sectors will be banned. All these sectors are the ones from where the corona epidemic spreads. Business is going on, people are working, so vaccinations are mandatory.
On the other hand, Special Assistant Dr. Faisal said that the rate of positive cases of corona in the country is 7.5%, the spread of the disease is beginning to affect the healthcare sector, the number of critically ill patients has exceeded 3000.
Dr. Faisal said that the disease is present and spreading all over the country, the epidemic is on the rise in Karachi, patients are present in about 50% of the beds in the city and the pressure on hospitals is increasing.
