Members of the European Parliament wrote a letter to the European High Representative expressing concern over human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

 According to the text of the letter, Occupied Kashmir is in the worst lockdown since 2019, with poor conditions of movement, access to information, health, education, freedom of expression, and journalists and human rights activists are particularly targeted.

 The members of the European Parliament said in the letter that people are being put in prisons, gatherings are being banned, people are being detained and India is abusing the law here.

 "Occupied Kashmir has become a threat to peace and stability in the region, a sign of a threat to the two nuclear powers that could escalate at any time," the letter said.

 According to the text of the letter, the local population is protesting against the revocation of the special status of Occupied Kashmir. There is unrest in the valley which is causing tension in the forces of both the countries.

 Members of the European Parliament said that the European Union must raise its voice against human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, create a conducive environment for the implementation of promises made to Kashmiris, UN resolutions.

 The letter said that resources must be mobilized for the cooperation of Indian and Pakistani partners, who are committed to continuing their efforts as the European Parliament.
