The Sindh High Court rejected the bail plea of PPP leader Khursheed Shah in a reference to making assets in excess of his income.
The court in its written order said that Khurshid Shah did not spend a single day in jail, using political influence to get all the facilities.
The Sindh High Court in an 11-page written order said that Khursheed Shah has got all the facilities in the hospital. How can a person who has not spent a single day in jail be granted bail due to difficulties in jail.
The written order says that there is a defect in our system. One prisoner keeps rotting in jail and the other gets all the facilities due to political influence.
The decision further said that Khursheed Shah's stay in the sub-jail is a question mark on the system. Khursheed Shah was remanded in court on November 9, 2019. On the same day, the Sindh government declared NICVD Sukkur a sub-jail and Living a normal life in prison.
According to the verdict, Khursheed Shah's lawyer did not give any life-threatening arguments due to any disease and he is taking all the facilities in the jail.
The court directed the trial court to complete the trial in six months and said that the accused should be given full opportunity of a transparent trial and the trial court should hear the arguments and decide on the merits of the reference.
It may be recalled that NAB had arrested Khurshid Shah on September 18, 2019.
